On June 13, 1971, parts of a secret Pentagon report were published in The New York Times. The published reports called the Vietnam War's validity into question at the time. Forty years later, in 2011, the Pentagon Papers were declassified and released in full. At the time, efforts were made to stop the publication, but a 6 to 3 decision by the Supreme Court decided that the government had no right to stop the publication of these documents. This Supreme Court decision comes into play even today with the leaks from the anti-secrecy Wikileaks organization.
